One of the things on my list to do here was to eat an authentic Philly Cheese Steak. I can now say I tried one and it was delicious. So, you can guess we took a little trip out to Philly.
We decided to go see the Liberty Bell, but it was super crowded. The line was so long we decided to skip it. We did find a spot close to the bell, but you had to look through a glass window to see it. I think we'll go another time to get closer, but it is amazing to finally be next to our nation's history.
Since we weren't waiting in line, we walked around and just looked at all the buildings. It was a beatiful day with such a pretty, blue sky and puffy white clouds. We also viewed some of the statues and the excavation site... I think of Benjamin Franklin's house. The city is a mixture of modern buildings mingled with history sites. We saw a publishing house where some of our first magazines were made... pretty cool.
A new area was built where you can learn more about Benjamin Franklin. There were some people inside dresssed in clothes worn around 1776 and acted the part. One wrote Jonathan's name in an authentic "pen" used during that time. Another man commented on how Ella must be a princess since she was riding in a chariot.
There were a lot of tours to go on, but we decided not today. It was a great day and will go again, just in the off season.
