A few weeks ago, Ella telling me where she wanted to sit to eat lunch:
Ella: (goes to a regular chair, pats it ) Sit?
Mom: (mom pats the high chair) Ella, sit here.
Ella: NO! (pats regular chair again) Sit?
Mom: No Ella, (Mom pats high chair) Sit here.
Ella: NO! (walks away in frustration.... a half an hour later... goes over to the high chair) Sit!
Mom: (picks up Ella and places her in the high chair)
Ella deciding what to eat a few weeks ago:
Mom: (brings Ella to the cabinet) Do you want some crackers?
Ella: (shakes head) No!
Mom: Do you want this (points to cereal bar)
Ella: NO! (Ella points to cabinet) This!
(After a while of pointing to different foods Mom figured out it was the peaches)
Last night at the dinner table:
(Ella notices Mom dipping her chicken in BBQ sauce and Ella points to Mom's plate)
Mom: (Takes some chicken.) Do you want the chicken? (Ella nods her head, then points to the BBQ sauce. Mom then puts some of the sauce on Ella's plate. Ella dips the chicken into the sauce, after a few seconds ...)
Ella: More! (Mom puts more sauce on the plate and Ella continues to suck it off the chicken.)
Today when getting ready for bed:
(Jonathan and Ella are playing in her room. Things get a little rough and Ella's lip accidently hits Jonathan's head. Ella starts to cry, sees her Mom and buries her head into her Mommie. Between the tears and sad expression on her face...)
Ella: Night Night!
(Mom picks up Ella, gives her a comforting hug and kiss, then places Ella in her bed. Ella hugs her blanket tightly and eventually falls asleep.)
There are other times where Ella is hungry and will come up to me and say, "food". When I ask her what she wants to eat, her reply usually is, "cheese." One day she tried to say watermelon, but didn't quite sound right..
Words she can say are: Papa, Mama, Dada, cheese, sit, eye, night night, Jak Jak, baby, and her favorite, no! Words she can almost say, which means she knows what the word means but is not yet saying it correctly are: please, thank you, dog, nose, ear, Jonathan, bottle, juice, blanket, blue, red, merrily and row. (from the song row, row , row your boat) There might be more, but I am tired and can't recall any more.
