2010 Christmas tree search

The Monday after Thanksgiving the heavens smiled upon us and both Ryan and Jonathan had the day off so we decided to get our Chistmas tree. It was a cold, but beautiful day which was great because the last few years we went it was either raining or snowing. We loaded the kids into the car, found a radio station playing Christmas music and headed out to the tree farm we have gone to every year while living out here in PA.

Once at the farm we unloaded the kids and after a few minutes looking at trees the kids realized how cold it was and I went back to the car for a quick jacket run. Leia had a blast walking around even though the ground was a little steep for her. You could tell she felt like one of the big kids and had a fun hanging out with Jonathan and Ella.

It didn't take long for us to find "the perfect Chrstmas tree". Ryan went to pay for the tree while I hung out with the guy who trimmed it for us and would shortly bring it to our car. Ryan came back with two happy kids because Daddy could not resisit spioling them by purchasing each a chocolate lollipop which I realized how easy they are to make and we will probably be making some of our own in the not-so-distant future. Anyway, after that I loaded the kids in the car and then Ryan proceeded to strap our tree to the roof of the car. It took a while so the kids entertained themselves and had a balst making each other laugh and scream with the occasional decision to annoy each other.
We headed home with a quick stop to pick up some pizza. Once home, the beloved pizza was eaten by all and Leia was put down for a nap while the tree was decorated. This year I took the backseat and handed out ornaments while everyone else put them on the tree. I realized we finally reached the ornament point where we have more family ornaments than my childhood ones. Our tree is literally filled with memories represented by ornaments of each year.

Speaking of memories, when Jonathan was just beginning to talk we purchased an ornament that recorded sounds and it is so fun to watch him listen to it. I have not done this with the girls so this year I neeed to get them one as well, especially since Leia is talking . So much fun.

When Leia woke up and I brought her downstairs she immediately went to the Christmas tree and started looking at it. She loves it and loves to pull ornments off the tree. I find them all over the place but at least she is enjoying it and so far has not broken any of them. The girls especially like the Precious Moments ones my mom bought me as a kid. Leia will pick one off the tree, bring it to me and says baby. She also thinks the traditonal ornaments are a ball which is common for little kids but extrememly cute. It seems like we are off to a fabulous Christmas holiday.
Leia walking around. Freedom! Look at the expression on her face and then scroll down to the last pic of Jonathan... can you tell they are related?

Group picture. The owner of the farm actually took this piture. He is an older, sassy, man that walked up to us and offered to take a family picture. After he was done he commented that this is how he gets nice cameras and the proceeded to walk off with ours! Ha! What a card. But seriously, he seemed like a very sweet man.

Daddy's action shot of being in Daddy mode by loading the Christmas tree. As a side note, when we were first married and extrememly poor, our tree was so small we just put it in the trunk of the car.

The kids waiting patiently while Ryan still works on strapping the tree to our car.
