My parents once again made their yearly trip out to visit us. All of us were incredibly excited. They flew in on Father's day, about the time they came last year, and left yesterday super early in the morning. However, this year Ryan had four days off in a row so he was able to see and talk to them during this visit.
We spent the first few days sight seeing. We went to Hershey to visit Chocolate World. Simply delicious! The kids made their own customized chocolate bar and then all of us went on a trolley ride around town. The ride was a lot of fun and at the end everyone on board sang the song God Bless America. It was awesome and very moving. The whole ride was extremely entertaining plus they handed out chocolate through out the tour/ ride. What could be sweeter?
We rested for a day and then went to see Ella's trophy. My parents have never seen the Statue of Liberty up close so it was a must. Cross it off the bucket list.
On Friday my dad actually left for New York for a reunion and my mom stayed with us. The days were super hot, plus everyone in my little family was feeling crummy since all of us caught a cold, so we stayed at home and just hung out together. My dad came back on Sunday and was so glad he went to the reunion and filled us in how the weekend went. For those of you who don't know, my dad was going to become a Catholic priest but ended up not taking out his vows. So this reunion was for all the men who went through seminary. A Jubilee also took place which consisted of the men who actually became priests all gathered to renew vows. It was a very rare, special reunion.
Now Grammie and G'pa are gone and currently visiting friends and relatives in Wisconsin. We sure enjoyed spending time with them! I think when my dad gets home he is going to look into getting an iPad and a GPS system. TomTom sure made his trip easier traveling through different parts of New York.
There was one photo I was unable to get. I wanted to get a picture of my dad in the corn field across the street and then label it CORN BEEF! Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait a year for that.
