Every year since then we have brought out that set and always put it somewhere special where we can look at it and reflect on our Savior's birth. The past few years Jonathan has become sentimental when taking it out. For some reason though this year the two older girls were the anxious ones in wanting to get out the pieces and put the display together.
Leia was so excited when they unwrapped baby Jesus. She wanted to carry him everywhere but Ella was always right next to Leia cautioning her to be careful for baby Jesus could break. Leia on the other hand loved being able to hold him and take care of him. The girls soon put the whole scene together and we went on our merry way decorating the rest of the house... except for Leia.
While decorating the front room we heard a breaking sound, like glass, and it took me a second to realize what broke... baby Jesus. Leia became hysterical, crying and exclaiming over and over again, "I broke baby Jesus". I went over to her, picked up the pieces and realized only the manger part was broken but baby Jesus was still in tact. Leia was heart broken but was able to calm down, baby Jesus was put somewhere else awaiting to be mended and the stable no longer had a babe inside.
